Buzz: Finishing Strong (even if a bit late)

Thursday, January 13, 2011

I'm not one for finishing things. I start so many projects and never quite finish any... and that's exactly what happened with this year's Reverb 10 project I undertook. The blogging project gave me 1 prompt to answer a day, every day in December. I started off strong, faithfully blogging every day... and then the holidays hit and I was burnt out. Writing reflective posts every day for a month is exhausting, and by December 24 I slacked off... BUT this is my year of finishing things wells. So, here are my answers (shortened for all our sakes) to the 5 prompts I missed... Enjoy!

*********************************

December 24 - Everything's OK: What was the best moment that could serve as proof that everything is going to be alright? And how will you incorporate that discovery into the year ahead?

(Author: Kate Inglis)
One night C & I couldn't see eye to eye on anything... something just wasn't clicking, even though we weren't angry at each other. We calmly sat down to talk about it, and realized we were both stressed about something going on in our lives, and that our relationship itself had nothing to do with our issues. It was at that moment, when we could hold each other while both crying about different things, that I knew my life was OK... that I could endure almost anything with C by my side.

December 28 - Achieve: What’s the thing you most want to achieve next year? [...] (Author: Tara Sophia Mohr)

I want to achieve success. I want to finish things well. I want to mark things off my to-do list. I want to be healthier. I want to be happier. I want to take more responsibility for my actions, and achieve more.

December 29 - Defining Moment: Describe a defining moment or series of events that has affected your life this year. (Author: Kathryn Fitzmaurice)

Getting my "adult" job while standing in the snow started a long series of wonderful events that lead directly to the life I am living happily now. I think every college graduate is fearful of the future, and the security of knowing that I had a job, I had a future, allowed me to continue on in confidence.

December 30 - Gift: What’s the most memorable gift, tangible or emotional, you received this year? (Author: Holly Root)

Getting to hold my nephew. Getting to cuddle while watching TV with C. Having a girl's weekend with my mom and sisters. Getting to sit alone on my porch with coffee. Getting to meet new friends. Getting to blog. My life is a daily gift that I am extremely grateful for.

December 31 - Core Story: What central story is at the core of you, and how do you share it with the world? (Author: Molly O’Neill)

I am a person of substance that is striving to be better, do better, live better. I know 2011 is a special year for me. I am embarking on a new-found life of repetition... and I am taking that task head-on. My core story tells of a girl looking to be loved, but learning to be content in all situations, and to diligently use the time given to me for greatness.

At graduation and 6 months later...
it's amazing how much changes in that short period of time!

(it's a list... so you won't be bombarded with 31 blog posts trying to show their ugly heads all at once!)
