So, it's not a secret I love Google. And, while I'm not an artist myself, I do appreciate art... so I was pleasantly surprised when I went onto Google today and saw a promo for the Google Art Project.
Here's a short video describing the site:

So now you don't have to travel around the world to see art around the world! I'm really excited about this... it's just one more example of how technology can make education (and experiencing culture) easier. You can wander around a museum while still at home in your PJ's. Especially right now, where half the US is under crazy amounts of snow, it's a good way to "travel" from home. The personalization offered is amazing, the interaction is awesome, and I'm sure there's so many more possibilities that I'm not even thinking of right now!
Just think... now you can go to an art appreciation class and actually be able to see close ups of the famous paintings you're studying. You're no longer limited to what the textbook decided to publish.
So, go check out the Art Project or its You Tube channel to learn more, and see some amazing art!
This is so cool! Though, probably doesn't replace the experience of traveling, still really cool!
