What's my favorite? Alabama friend

If you don't have a friend from Alabama, you should get one. I found one through an odd series of events where we both ended living in Branson, MO, for a summer, working at the theme parks in the area, and bunking with about 40 other college kids from around the South East (and TX). Through yet another interesting series of events, she ended up moving to College Station, TX from Alabama.... and I think having a roll-tiding accent-ridden 5-ft-nothing southern girl really made the whole place better.

Ladies and gentlemen... meet Gayle....

Here's what I {and about everyone else that meets her} loves about her...

• She says "Roll Tide" every 30 minutes ... and loves, loves, loves this commercial:

• She's always up for an adventure... we were out on a girl date one night, walking around downtown Bryan... and around 8 we came across a flyer for a midnight showing of Rocky Horror a few blocks away. So, we went to a local wine bar, hung out and talked, and then went around 11 to go see the show... completely impromptu, completely unplanned, just because we thought it'd be fun.

• She always has a story to keep you entertained. I don't know why life in Alabama seems more interesting than life in Texas at times (maybe better football, maybe it's the country accent?), but G has the most ridiculous and amazing stories I've ever come across. If you ever see her on the street, just tell her to tell you something, and you'll end up laughing, I promise.

• She is the nicest person I've ever met who doesn't make me want to punch her. Seriously, if you've met me, I'm not the nicest person ever and don't really enjoy when people are super nice all the time... but G is genuinely sweet-- is friends with anyone she meets-- but makes you feel special, so it's not annoying... it's endearing.

• Also, she swing dances... took me to BINGO one night and we're going again this week... is planning on moving to another country to teach ESL... and currently has bunk beds in her room, which she shares with 2 other girls, and loves it.

So go get yourself an Alabama friend...

you won't regret it.
