Happy Birthday to...

On March 2, 1836, the Texas Declaration of Independence was signed and Texas became a republic. It was drafted and signed within 24 hours (yikes!) because of reasons such as no system of public education had been established and settlers were not allowed freedom of religion.
Now, 175 years later Texas is a member of the United States of America (duh) and is one of the proudest states in the Union. I was born in Texas, raised in Texas, and love living in Texas. It has some of the best places to visit. To honor my great state of Texas, here are some of my favorite places to go visit...
It has amazing BBQ... but more importantly is a great music venue. I've seen so many bands there... Thrice, Taking Back Sunday, Fall Out Boy, Matchbook Romance, The Decemberists, Brand New, Lavender Diamond, and more I probably can't remember. I've had some great memories there and always love going back.

- Kyle Field in College Station, TX
Besides the fact that I work for Texas A&M University... I also am a Texas A&M Alumnus. I believe Kyle Field is one of the best college football stadiums in the country. Because of our traditions and school pride, the atmosphere in the stadium is contagious. Recently, A&M set the record for the most students at a football game (a record 29,520 student tickets were pulled).

- Landa Park in New Braunfels, TX
I grew up in Landa Park... I had my first kiss there, C asked me to be his girlfriend there, we had our engagement pictures and prom pictures taken there. It's a beautiful, large park that includes everything from train rides, to a fresh-water spring, a mini-golf course, and so many picnic benches that there's always a place to have a picnic. If you're ever driving south of Austin (or north of San Antonio) on I-35, exit in New Braunfels and take an afternoon detour to Landa Park.
