I started this blog as a social media experiment. I wanted (and still want) to "make a living" helping out small, independent businesses advertise via alternative means (like social media & blogging), but I knew I'd have to have experience blogging before I could tell someone else how to do it. And magically this blog began. I had already written a few things in 2009, but nothing serious. I consider the "birth" of this blog October 2010.
In December 2010, I linked up with Reverb 10: an end of year 31-day blogging challenge. A prompt was announced every day, and you'd blog the answer, then the Reverb 10 community would all hop around reading each other's answers. It was quite an amazing time, and I learned one invaluable lesson: I love to write.
It was because of Reverb 10 that I began to ever so slowly advert my eyes to a career I'd never even thought of before. One that would include writing.
And so I submitted an application for a writing internship a few weeks ago with an online entertainment and lifestyle magazine blog, Stupid Dope. And here's where the good news comes in....
A response email was sent Thursday, telling me to answer one of three prompts in 150 words. So I did, emailed it back, and 20 minutes later I was emailed the link to my very first publication outside of my personal blog!!
I'm going to now be a contributing writer over there 2 to 3 times a week!!!
I know nothing about what I'm getting myself into, but I do know I'm going to get to do something I'm learning to love.... and have it exposed to way more people that I'd ever thought possible!! So, I just wanted to let you guys know what's going on in my life. Learning good news is made even better when I get to share it.
I hope everyone had a great weekend ♥
