Ok, there are Angry Birds in my Pandora commercials, on everyone's phones around me, on the big screen, and now in a cookbook!?! Seriously, it's way too much. But you know what? You're responsible for this nonsense. Ok, maybe not you per se, but the generic you. The millions and trillions (slight exaggeration?) of you that downloaded the game (myself included). The thousands of you that saw the movie "Rio". Even the tens of you who have seen the Pandora commercials and clicked the thing (luckily I resisted and just decided to write a blog post instead). They've even taken over my precious Google Chrome with App ads all day!
There are now 25 ways to download & play Angry Birds. Of course there's different versions (the original, updates including seasons & holidays, Rio, plus off-line memorabilia)... but still, there's 25 ways to get your hands on the game that's become something akin to Furbies or Beanie Babies.
So I guess it only makes sense to move onto cookbooks. (??) The game's parent company, Rovio, is publishing the book itself due to high publication-house prices. And what was the company's response to allegations that they were spreading themselves too thin with non-gaming merchandise?
It's not a hobby. It's not like Apple TV. We have sold three million of these [holding up his plush-toy-keychain] and we have made a lot of money. We can make a lot of money selling toys and t-shirts. {Peter Vesterbacka, Rovio's marketing and business development manager}So what's this cookbook about? Eggs. Eggs. And more Eggs. All eggs, actually.
There's not much more news out yet, but Mashable's got my back, and I've got yours. So stay tuned :)
Haha this post is hilarious! I had no idea what Angry Birds were until a 40+ year old let me play it on his phone...I still am not sure what the big deal is!
