If you give the world an extra day...

Today should be the last day of February. But - as we all know - it's not. We get an extra day this month (and year). And up until this year, I've never thought twice about it. Big deal.... right?

You know... except for the poor kids actually born on February 29, who only have a "real" birthday every 4 years. But, really, after that realization in kindergarten, the intrigue of this mysterious 366th day fades away.

Until now.

In my great venture to truly learn to appreciate myself as a person and the life that I've been given (and after watching a pretty hilarious "30 Rock" episode), I realized an extra day is just that: extra.

So to celebrate tomorrow's Leap Day, I wanted to make a list of everything I could do with this extra day given to me. (Too bad it's not on a Saturday!!)
  • Try a new recipe from my Pinterest board.
  • Make a new friend.
  • Spend the afternoon reading a book.
  • Cross something - anything - off my To-Do List
  • Have breakfast in bed with my guy
  • Find & then pursue that writing dream job
  • Clear out my Google Reader - and comment on everyone's blogs
  • Take a day trip to visit my family
  • Go shopping and find the perfect pair of jeans(!)
  • Watch a girlie move, with popcorn, ice cream & Reese's peanut butter cups... all in one bowl

None of it would change the world, but it's how I'd spend that extra day. Relaxing & doing something I usually put off because there's "more important" things to do.

What would you do with an extra day?

 { PS- My Leap Day miracle ♥ }

  1. Amy,

I am lucky enough to have Wednesdays off from work so I've been thinking about how to make the most of my "extra" day as well. Thanks for your list of things to do. It has me inspired to do something I usually put off, instead of my usual wifey duties like cleaning, laundry, and cooking.

  2. I'm actually taking off of work to go to an all-day knitting seminar on how to design your own knit garments based on things that inspire you. I've been knitting for 4 years and design is something that I would really like to get into. So, I'm going to do it!

  3. This is a great way to view Leap Day! I have never thought of it as an "extra day" until now - I mean, how many times have I been so busy that I've wished for an extra day in the week, and now I get one! I'm going to make sure and take one Saturday this year as an "extra" and do whatever the heck I want - thanks for the inspiration!

  4. My grandma was born on Leap Day and she used to joke around that she was really only 15. Personally, I'd hate to only get to celebrate my real birthday every four years. I would, however, like to celebrate the day in the ways that you described :)

  5. My aunt was born on leap day! She hates it because her dad is always messing around, talking about his "eight-year-old" daughter, when she's really 32. I think it's hilarious.

I would sleep in, blog, comment on blogs, and probably get some VCP work done. I wish it could be like a stop day for everyone. Like a day when we all got the day off and didn't have to work because if it was 75% of other years, we wouldn't have to.

  6. I would find the perfect pair of jeans, too! Cute list.
