This weekend, we headed out to Austin to celebrate my mom's birthday at an Ice Cream Festival. Somehow, the whole family, minus my dad, made it out to the fest. It was full of games, and ice cream, babies sleeping in the shade, and pony rides.
The festival was hot, so we ducked out early to grab burgers & fries. Then we stopped by my sister Dana's house, where Danzig got to hold a bird.
At first, he refused to even walk into the same room as the bird for about 5 minutes. Which, for a 2 year old, is quite a long time. But, as toddler fickle-hood would have it, the two were best buds by the time we headed out.
Weekends with the family are always a little differently paced. It takes some getting used to, and it's always nice to get back to our "normal"... but, can I just say how much I love playing aunt? Even if it does mean a little spit up on my clothing. That's what washers & dryers are for anyway...
Hope you have a lovely Monday!!

An Ice Cream festival?! Why don't we have those here in Colorado? Sounds like a blast! Thanks for linking up :)
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you all had a wonderful time! We don't do dairy anymore so an ice cream festival is not our thing. Those pictures look amazing and your little boy with the bird, oh how cute!!! :)
ReplyDeleteSounds like a fun weekend! Always good when ice cream is involved!!! :-)
ReplyDeleteI'm not a big fan of festivals but I don't think it would take much to talk me into going to an Ice Cream festival. My husband and I went hiking yesterday but I think it was more an excuse to be in the neighborhood of our favorite ice cream shop.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you had a fantastic weekend celebrating your Mom's birthday! I love the photo of him and the bird, especially knowing the backstory :) Happy Monday!
ReplyDeleteWhat an awesome festival! I want one near me! I saw that picture of Rita's and it brought back some memories. I used to work at one in high school...man I love their Italian Ice. Thanks for sharing! Popping over from Weekend Update.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a great weekend! Who doesn't love an ice cream festival! Little Danzig is braver than me. I wouldn't hold a bird. Stopping by from the Weekend Update hop :)

ReplyDeleteCan you call the people in charge in Chicago and tell them that your friend Dana needs an Ice Cream Festival too? Looks like too much fun! I'm gaining weight just thinking about it.
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking up!
D'aww. Those kids are adorable. Texas has the best festivals, although I've never been to an ice cream one.
