Day one is complete!

Running Shoes

I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't been there myself, but this morning when my 6 a.m. alarm went off, I didn't jump in the shower -- I put on some running shoes, bundled up (it was 50* after all!!), and went running jogging.

A few days ago, I mentioned to C (who's been running on his own for over a year now) that I may want to join him. And I thought it may be something we could do in the mornings to jump start our day. Plus, it'd be a "couples" thing that didn't include sitting, watching TV, or eating (our 3 favorite things to do, naturally).

Surprisingly, he not only said yes, but was actually excited about the idea.

So this morning, I moaned and shivered and slowly made my way outside, where I ran exactly .9 miles in 14 minutes. Not exactly recording breaking - or honestly even sweat breaking - but it felt good. And it was something.

It's easy to fall into a "comfy" rhythm when it gets cold. Staying bundled up, warm, on the couch, cuddling with the one that you love while drinking hot chocolate. And while I plan on doing a ton of that too, I wanted to make sure that what we did as a couple was something we'd look back & be proud of.

Running together just made sense. And I can't wait to get back out there tomorrow with him!

Day one is complete!

  1. Way to go!!! I think having C there to encourage you on will be a really great motivator. I hear what you're saying about wanting to just snuggle on the couch. With it getting dark so early I just want to go to bed earlier. It's hibernation time!

  2. That's awesome! My husband is more of a marathon runner (not literally but phyically) so us running together wouldn't work. It's great that you guys are finding time in your busy days to spend with each other!

  4. Fantastic! That is exactly .9 miles farther than I ran today. Keep up the good work. :-)

  5. Good for you! I love running in the morning most. But it was about 22 degrees this morning for me, and that just doesn't happen for this girl. 40 and above it doable in my book - 50-55 is perfect!

  6. I totally love running but cannot run with the hubs... his stride is just TOO long... basically he can speed walk with me while I run... lol. Good job though!
