As we end one year and begin another, I like to evaluate what's important in my life. I start to weed through things in my mind, and begin to decide if there's anything I can leave out of the new year - or if there's anything I want to add. It's always a nice experience, because with the new year comes the freedom to get rid of things free of guilt.

This month's mixtape explores the idea of leaving the world you know behind, and starting anew with the one that you love.

So I started thinking, what if I had to start completely new with C at my side? Is there anything I'd like to bring with me? And so I took inspiration from The Burning House and put together a small collection of things I'd bring with me...



Some are sentimental, some practical, and others may prove to be completely useless. But here's what I'd included (and why):

• Purse, as is: My purse always has the basic essentials (money, keys, medicine, pens) and I rarely ever leave home without it
• My favorite shoes: they're sturdy, comfortable, and perfect for long journeys
• iPhone + Charger: it's useful, and can capture our new lives
• C's childhood blanket: this is mostly sentimental, but it also keeps me warm
• Ziggy the Zebra: again, mostly sentimental, but he's always up for a hug
• Notebooks: I couldn't imagine not having a place to write down my thoughts
• External hard drive: Because it has all of my pictures & music.
• Glasses: so I can see :)
