Last week was Valentine's Day. The overly sweet, slightly obnoxious day where we're told to give chocolate to the one we love. And while I'm all for celebrating my love for my husband and my family, I also know the ideal of Valentine's Day isn't real life.

Sometimes, real life is difficult. Sometimes it's messy and bittersweet. Sometimes it doesn't turn out the way you want it to. And sometimes, we work really hard only to find our hard work may not pay off. Sometimes the picket fence and perfect spouse never come. Or when they do, it's not as perfect as you'd imagined. Real life isn't a TV show.

Of course, not all life sucks, but it's good to remember the possibilities and realities of our failings to make the rest of our life ever so sweet. Thankfully, we have music to help remind us in poetic and beautiful ways.
