Canada, I'm Headed Your Way
This weekend, C & I are taking a huge step in our relationship & taking our first international trip together. Sure, we're just hopping across the north border into Canada... but it's a first step. I had to get my last name changed on my passport. (It's officially "Powell" now.) And C actually got his first passport of his life (which he had to get his birth certificate from Colorado to obtain).
Our first Christmas together, my parents took us to Chicago with the family. But besides that, the farthest from home we've been together is New Orleans. (I luckily got to go to Portland, OR in May.)
So I'm excited about this adventure because it will expand our horizons, and be a memory for us to make.
I'm also excited because we're going to Canada to see my maid of honor & best friend Meredith get married. It's a lovely thing to see someone who you love fall in love. And we now have the opportunity to see her commit her life to someone else. Since she was such a large part in my life, I wouldn't have dreamed of missing this huge moment in hers.
This will also be the longest I've taken off of work since I graduated college. I requested 32 glorious hours off, 16 of which are extra for me to pack before and unpack after. I allowed myself to be selfish with my vacation, because after my year-long project I'm burned out. I'm lucky to have that option, and I'm thankful our schedule allowed it.
I've always loved Canada... and I'm so excited to explore a completely different part of the country. We're heading to Edmonton, Alberta. (Which is the farthest north I'll have ever been.) And it's going to be 60 glorious degrees (F) all week. Such a change from our 95*++ we've been having around here! I'm excited to soak in the culture, and the people, and eat amazing food.
But most of all, I'm just excited about the adventure. We're going with no hotel arrangements. No rental car. No plan. We're just going & following the wedding party around. I can't wait to just let myself experience it all. I'm hoping to come back home inspired, rested & ready for the next step in my career & life.
So have a great weekend! If I get wi-fi, I'll post a few pictures on Instagram. Otherwise, see you guys next week ♥
