|An actual candid shot of C while watching football this past Saturday.|
Football season is here & I couldn't wait one more second to yell it from the rooftops:
I LOVE COLLEGE FOOTBALL ♥
I know some people think girls liking college football is a "trend." Others may accuse me of only liking football to seem "cool".... but really (while I can't necessarily object to those), there's a few other reasons why I love college football too:
#5 The Community
In my defense, I do work on the Texas A&M campus, so I'm surrounded by University people... but I can't go a single day without talking to someone, anyone, about college football. It may be talking about our excitement in the elevator on a Friday afternoon before our season opener. It may be talking about all the crap that Johnny Manziel is currently getting while eating lunch in the office. It may be just reading other's tweets & getting in conversations online. But the community that comes up around a football team is contagious. And I love it.
Texas A&M prides itself in traditions, but they're not the only college who has them. Everyone not only goes through their own alma mater's traditions each Saturday, but each family does too. For us, it means Saturday mimosas while watching College Gameday on ESPN. We move from our bed to the couch - often without even brushing our teeth - to just watch that first moment of college football activity on the TV. Before we had cable, we put on the local talk radio station & listened to the pre-game updates through AM radio static. It's those traditions that make college football Saturdays more than just a game.

#3: Those Moments
As an Aggie, I've had the pleasure of watching Johnny Manziel, Ryan Swope, J-Train & Von Miller kill it on the field. Every team, every fan has that moment. The moment when your breath is taken away. When you realize you just beat 'Bama. Or when you realize that 99 yard touchdown just happened. Those moments are what make football magical. And they're what keep me coming back for more. (Also, if you're a Clemson fan, can I just say your win against Georgia last week was epic to watch. That's a moment.)
#2: Opportunity to try recipes
So I would be lying if I didn't admit to loving College Football for the opportunity (aka: the excuse) it gives me to try recipes. And while I've done my fair share of healthy recipes (did you see this Whole30 tailgate post?), I'll admit to making mostly bad stuff. Pizza Pretzels. Breakfast Pizza. Mini chicken & waffles. I have a whole Pinterest board (secret, of course) of ideas to do for this blog this fall.
#1: Connecting with my husband
I said this last year... but my favorite part of football season is having yet another excuse to spend time with C. We talk endlessly about football during the season. We plan our weekends around it. Last year, during our trip to New Orleans, we shared a hotel room with Brazos & Lauren. While C & I were taking our turn in the hotel bathroom - showering, brushing teeth, etc. - we were talking football stats & the likelihood of bowl outcomes. When we walked out of the bathroom, Lauren's jaw was wide open. She couldn't believe that two naked people in a bathroom would just talk about football as passionately as we had. It was then that I realized this football obsession of mine is way more than blogger cred. It's real. And it's something that makes my marriage better.

So on Saturdays, while you're either watching football or not, remember where I'll be: Eating ridiculously amazing food while yelling at the TV next to the man I love. Nothing better than that ♥
